Great Year, Great Success


  Rod Hightower described his first AirVenture as EAA president and CEO as “a great success” in his wrap-up press conference early Sunday afternoon. He made special mention of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner’s first public appearance, the long-awaited return of the Commemorative Air Force’s B-29 bomber “FIFI”, salutes to Burt Rutan and Bob Hoover, and the Centennial of Naval Aviation celebration as bringing in large crowds and creating an event that people will be talking about for a long time to come.

               Looking ahead to AirVenture 2012


Leading off the list of themes and attractions is the 75th anniversary of the Piper Cub, and the goal, according the Adam Smith, EAA vice president of membership, will be “to create a sea of yellow” with visiting Cubs.
Film producer George Lucas told Friday’s Fly-In Theater audience that he would return in 2012 to introduce Red Tails, his movie on the Tuskegee Airmen slated for release next year. More about this article can be found on AirVenture Oshkosh's website by clicking here.



The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 Würger (Shrike) was a German single-seat, single radial engine fighter aircraft designed by Kurt Tank in the late 1930s. It was used by the Luftwaffe during the Second World War in a variety of roles.
